Project Description

Various Projects Including: 

Data Center Decommissioning (Lombard, IL)

The project included decommissioning efforts the for an existing Data Center located on the 4th floor to be delivered back to the landlord to lease agreement. The DW Hammer team decommissioned existing rooftop condensing units, CRAC units within the data center proper, removed all piping to/from source, and capped all rooftop openings. In addition, removed all electrical components back to source, electrical distribution from main distribution to UPS and PDU’s, included proper disposal of UPS Batteries. Lastly, the team completed various cosmetic upgrades to deliver the space back to the landlord per lease requirements.

Data Center Upgrades (Chicago, IL)

The DW Hammer team provided construction management services with an on-site presence for various projects in a live data center at 350 N. Orleans. Services included CRAC unit upgrades, new electrical circuits, protection, coordination of MOPs, and coordination of all communication with clients.

Decommissioning and IDF Room (Chicago, IL)

The project consisted of the decommissioning of data centers back to the original state per the lease agreement. The 1st data center was located on the 24th floor, and the second was located in the sub-basement.

Fire Suppression Decommissioning Scope: Decommission of clean agent (FM 200 systems) & double interlocked pre-action dry pipe systems. To properly dispose of clean, the following steps must be taken: safety (proper PPE/training), understanding of local regulations, system evaluation, using licensed contractors, safe recovery/capture, transportation, disposal, and documentation.

Mechanical Scope: Decommission of rooftop condensing units and CRAC units within the datacenter proper and removal of all piping to/from the source and capped all rooftop openings.

Electrical Scope: Disconnect (2) generators, 600-gallon fuel tanks, main electrical distribution, ATSs, UPS, proper disposal of UPS batteries, PDUs, busway, and properly disposed of diesel fuel.

General Construction - Demo Scope: Removed the following raised floor and ceiling. Assisted client in developing an active equipment list, which determined if the equipment would be reused, recycled, or resold. Lastly, DW Hammer was tasked with un-racking, labeling, and packaging equipment per client instructions.
